    Product Guru was created with the aim of simplifying the retail buying process. Challenger brands can upload their products across all FMCG, home, gift and travel categories for free, making them discoverable for retail buyers looking to expand specific product ranges. Buyers can browse and find products, message suppliers, request samples and connect.

    Moreover, we support our community of innovative suppliers with guides and resources, brand awareness opportunities, industry-led webinars, and access to unique chances to connect with retailers through our virtual pitches and other events.

  • Our story. How Product Guru was born

    “I spent years selling to high street retailers and the UK grocery market and I'm painfully aware of the challenge (for both buyers and suppliers) in getting the right products in the right hands at the right time.

    Despite successfully selling to many of the bigger UK retailers, it took a lot of hard work to get my products in front of retailers. Retail buyers are inundated with product samples and information, and with no meaningful process in place to review all these options, opportunities were being missed for both parties.

    Although there's been a significant change of pace in the technology used within the retail sector, the process of finding the products that drive the market had really remained at a stand-still. With more and more small, specialist suppliers driving innovation in the sector, it has been harder than ever for buyers to be able to consider all options.

    We are a UK-based start up with a talented and hard-working team. We are passionate about making valuable connections in the retail sector and helping suppliers and buyers to achieve their goals.
     
    Our mission is to connect brands with the right buyers to drive business growth, for both suppliers and retailers.

    We work closely with many of the UK’s major retailers, and our vision is to become their strategic product discovery partner, while helping innovative brands to thrive.

    Our growth and achievements. Our journey so far!

    Product Guru started in 2018 with a winning idea to digitise and simplify the retail buying process. A few weeks after our launch, we were finalists in the Start Up of the Year competition at the Retail Week Tech awards in London, and we also won a Scottish EDGE award, which rewards innovative, high-growth potential UK businesses.

    In 2020, when unprecedented challenges emerged and businesses became heavily reliant on the hard work of their leadership team, we were delighted to find out that our CEO, Simon Coyle, was recognised by the Global CEO Excellence Awards 2020, and proudly named Best Product Discovery Platform CEO for 2020.
     
    With the increasing challenges of the pandemic, we set out to provide more opportunities for suppliers and retailers to connect virtually. Our first online event, The Pantry Live, was a virtual trade show & conference space for food and drink brands. A key part of the event was the opportunity for suppliers to meet virtually with retailers through a series of short virtual pitches.

    Following our success with The Pantry Live, we rolled out a full programme of virtual product pitch events in 2021, with huge success. We built our own in-platform virtual meeting tech as an extension to our software solution. Virtual meeting events are now accessible on an ongoing basis, directly from a Product Guru account to help suppliers & buyers to develop meaningful connections.

    In 2021, Product Guru was recognised in Retail Week’s annual Discovery Report as one of the Global Top 40 Tech Start-ups accelerating retail innovation.
